I have just received my insurance denial for surgery, and I'm so upset! I just fail to understand the ignorance and prejudice surrounding obesity being a disease and not some "elected" surgery! I mean, who would choose this existence? I have a phobia of flying which keeps me from Mexico, and can't afford cash prices. I feel doomed! Anyone out there have any helpful tips?
Why were you denied? Did they deny you for cause, or does your policy just simply not cover WLS? It makes a huge difference.
Unfortunately, insurance companies are most interested in profits. It's just a badly broken system.

I'm not sure why tgey tell people to appeal when they are not covered, but they do. It seems cruel.

It might be wise to work with a therapist about your fear of flying, if you're not already. Perhaps you could try taking some shorter trips?
