Food
As the others have said Never. However if you are asking when can you start eating tiny portions of healthy foods and not just pureed, liquid, or protein shakes.
The answer to THAT question is it depends! I am eating "soft solids". My program allows me to have chicken, turkey, white fish, canned tuna, scollops, yogurt, cottage cheese (UCK!), ricotta, eggs, and black beans. At 7 weeks weeks out I have been adding cooked veggies (1/4 cup max), a tiny bit of salads.
My plan doesn't want me to have/try pork, beef, lamb et****il at least 3 months and says I may have problems until 6 months out. However I have been able to dine at restaurants and find menu items I can eat for weeks. During the full liquid phase it was almost impossible.
All that said... I have had 1 bratwurst, 2 forks of foie gras, a couple of clams (that were in Cioppino), 3 raw oysters, an occasional slice of bacon, and a few other treats that would probably make my NUT scream. I realize that with each of these non condoned foods I risk feeling bad/sick. However I have approached each one consciously and given my system time to tell me it was a bad idea having even 1 bite. I can tell where the "Not another bite" line is and have so far managed to not cross it. I have pushed the edge a bit, and my body let me know that!
You will read else where in the forum about rapid pulse, sweating, nauseousness, running nose... Those I have had. So far I have avoided having food come back up. Be it because I had one bite more than my system can handle, or because I chose to eat something I shouldn't.
All that said, I have only had a few bites of any bread. Two, yes 2, french fries. But I find I don't want starch, or almost anything sweet. I can now tolerate a little sweet, but right after surgery I couldn't get anything sweet down. Apple juice, sweetened yogurt, protein shakes were absolutely were revolting and I could not swallow them.
So depending on what you mean by "normal food" or "food that everyone else was eating" the answer is either Never or it depends.
Best of luck!
It is better to travel and get lost...
Than never to travel at all.
In about a month or so ... of course starting with the softer foods and gradually adding food types in to make sure I could tolerate it. I am able to eat anything I want now. My limit is only the amount of it I can eat. That doesn't mean I eat junk or anything. I follow the guidelines of eating my protein first followed by veggies and then fruit ... but the reality is that after eating my protein I start running out of space and pick at everything else. For example ... last week I had a very busy day out with family and everyone decided to eat at McDonald's ... yes, horrible choice ... but I didn't have many options at the time. I ordered a cheeseburger kid meal. Took the top bun off and ate it like a tiny hamburger taco. After that I ate about 4 fries and 2 apple slices. That's all I had room for, but I was eating the same type of food as the rest of the family.
If you fall down you just have to get back up.
