Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Tuesday 8/15/17
Good morning! Today's menu isn't going to be very original. It worked out for me yesterday, so I'm repeating it today. I like the RNY menu thread for their Question of the Day, so I think as long as I'm posting pretty often I'm going to try to think of one for us! Feel free to participate or not at your leisure!
QOTD: The other night I went out for BBQ with a friend. I ordered the "combination platter" with pulled pork and ribs, plus two sides. I asked them to package up the pulled pork and sides and they brought out the ribs. I had two ribs and put 3 in a to-go container. I brought the rest to my husband who ate it for two meals. The whole thing cost me $18 + tip. Of course, I expected to eat less food, but the monetary savings of eating out always surprises me. What surprises you about your surgery/weight loss?

Yes, I have "big sleeve" and "little sleeve" days. I find it's often hormonally driven. Some days I just can't eat much and others all I want to do is eat. I also am very hungry if I'm bored/idle and often times have to identify that and tell my brain to shut up.
I have found the big/little extremes have gone down the farther out from surgery I get. At first, I would have days where I could literally eat only bites, that doesn't really happen anymore.

Absolutely - keeping busy seems to be the key to weighloss for me. That's been difficult since I quit my job and stay home with my baby but I'm going back to work soon and can't wait to be too busy to think about food!
The other thing I enjoy is the lack of many layers of clothing. I would wear shapewear, then a tank top, then an outer layer and often times a sweater. Any t-shirt required a tank top under it to smooth the "areas". Any dress required a bottom and a top shapewear item to lower the belly bulge.

I just want to add that I have these as well. I will tend to go ahead and eat more on my hungry days. I've found that even if one of those days is prior to my weigh day, it may be prior to a good loss for me. It's weird. And that may just be my case. But hungry days seem to coincide with big losses.
Good morning all. Work is stressing me out. In the past I would have turned to food, snowballing into two stressors instead of one. I'm just trying to be aware, knowing that it will pass, and drinking extra water.
QOTD: I would agree with you, Erin. And it always surprises me how long leftovers last. If it's only me eating the dish, they last for meal after meal. It's crazy. In the old days I would have taken the leftovers for lunch the next day and that would pretty much have been the end of it.
B: yogurt and coffee
L: roasted chicken and salad
D: turkey tacos
S: chike coffee - excited to try it today for the first time

Morning all,
It's been a rollercoaster few days and I've lurked a bit on the boards but not posted. Eating has been sporadically good and bad and I feel PMS plus stress from several expected and unexpected major events taking their toll. I still seem to do the best on a schedule and have not mastered managing day(s) day full of disarray. The old demons of 'food for comfort' do still rear their heads and sometimes my mindful exercises (pardon my language) 'don't do ****' for me so when I know I'm going to eat for comfort I try to make the best choice I can. Yesterday was Italian wedding soup followed by some nut and seed wafer pucks that do have sugar/honey in them but much better choice than the 2 Eatmore bars I was eyeing up in the store. People, don't ever get complacent-the old food head games can and do test you. It was our mother tongue and favorite solution to pretty much anything for many years. Just gotta try not to let one bad day turn into 2, 3, 4.
B: coffee with cream and sugar, HB egg, tuna with mayonnaise
S: homemade protein shake: cashew milk, Sytrax caramel macchiato, flax meal, strawberries, plain greek yogurt
L: not sure, visiting friend in the hospital
S: see above
D: probably salad with a couple ounces chicken
E: walk with hubby this morning, about 30 minutes
Have a good day, folks.
