Regrets?

No regrets at all. I have two friends in "real" life who have had WLS. Both had RNY and both are still carrying extra weight, though they are lighter than their starting weights. So I always figured success was more about the change in habits than the actual surgery performed.

No regrets but I understand the feeling. I have friends who had RNY. One sailed through with no issues and got to goal quickly. BTW she used the same surgeon I did. The other two bypass friends lost weight. One has gained back 50 lbs and the other struggles with nutrition and stomach issues. The one that is a disaster had lap band. Malabsorption, gum issues, lost 3 teeth and weight gain now. It's really all about the change of diet and the long term commitment.
I'm five months post op and have no regrets! I wanted the VSG over the RNY anyways, regardless of the fact that RNY generally lose faster; however remember that weight loss between both surgeries evens out in the long run.
I've lost 84 lbs since the start of my liquid diet (two weeks long) before surgery and I'm very happy with my weight loss. Either way you'll be losing faster than you would on your own, and I don't look at my weight loss as a race, but a journey...one step at a time.
Wishing you a healthy recovery and the best of luck in your journey!

I had VSG and don't think I would have lost weight that much quicker with RNY (see stats in my signature).

My only regret is that I didn't do it years before.
The differences between VSG and RNY are statistical averages of groups. As an individual, which tool is not what determines your outcome, it's how you use it.
