Vitamins
Hello All,
I am due for surgery August 23rd, and I am getting ready purchasing the vitamins and protein shakes I need.
Would like any recommendations on vitamins and other products that will help me ease into this new life change. Also, any other advise is welcomed.

Thank you,
Try several shakes but don't stock up because you might not like the taste or the sweetness after a few weeks. I ended up using mainly the unflavored powder that I added to unsweetened cashew milk or 2% cow or go at milk.
I got most of my early vitamins and protein powder on line from "Unjury".
Don't buy or make too much. I just fed half of the 4 oz cont of puree I made and froze in October go my dogs.

My advice is don't buy very much! You will feel fine to go to the store in several days and I promise if you buy too much, you will be sick of one or more things you bought in what feels like hours. Buy just enough to get you through 4 or 5 days.
Premier Protein premixed drinks are pretty good. For vitamins, ask your doctor. Mine didn't have me start taking them until 3 weeks and then only chewables for the first 4 months.
Definitely check with your surgeon and/or program about the vitamins. I was instructed to start taking them immediately after surgery, so I had to make sure I had them and my calcium/vitamin D3 on hand.
I agree with the others about not stocking too many protein shakes. I didn't like any of the ones I tried for my pre-op liquid diet, so I bought unflavored powder and made my own with skim milk and all kinds of flavorings for variety. I especially liked making my own because they were not so uber thick...eww. The only premade ones I could stomach were Premier Protein, but I haven't had a protein shake or powder in about 3 months.
Bariatric Advantage works for me. And don't overstock pre-surgery. Things will taste different and things change. I could not swallow the calcium citrate pills post-surgery so I found a gummy, and then a chewy. You'll have to adapt to what works for you, but be sure to find something that works. A lot of places do free samples, too, so explore that.
