Good morning, all! I'm still feeling a bit run down from my weekend/week so I decided to sleep in a little and just go to Tai Chi class this morning. I can't wait - I haven't been except to visit briefly since I had my last surgery! Then I've got a massage followed by a lunch date with Art who is home briefly between trips. It should be a great day :D I'm also hoping to finish typing up my interview report by the end of the day.

What are you up do? Do you have any exciting weekend plans you're looking forward to?

1: protein shake
2: sushi/sashimi in some variety
3: taco salad

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: tai chi class!

How about you?

Hi everybody!

B - coffee and yogurt

L - edamame and cottage cheese

D - Dinner at the neighbors. Steak I think. Must. Avoid. Appetizers!

S - protein shake if needed

Today's the day we get to go rappelling! It's a bit of a drive so we're headed out there soon, and plan to do some hiking in the 5 miles of trails surrounding the Chasm before our appointment. We had BBQ last night and both have enough left overs today to cover dinner, so that should be easy today! Can I just say how much I love going on vacations that do not revolve around which food I'll eat next?

M1: Premier Protein & Coffee w/ Miralax

M2: Dannon L&F w/ blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries (I found raspberries to pick yesterday and I'm still using up the blueberries I picked on Wednesday on the way here!)

M3: Roltini Cheese and Pepperoni roll up (I went back to the little grocery store I found these at and bought 8 more of them. They are super yummy.)

M4: Jamaican Jerk Smoked Chicken

S: Popcorn or Jerky maybe?

E: Hiking and Rappelling!

After reading a recent thread here I added in Calcium (which my Bari center did not have me taking). I'm still working on getting the 2nd dose of it. I've managed the first dose fine but keep forgetting the 2nd dose mid-afternoon.

I went to Atomic Blonde last night. It takes place in Berlin in '89 right as the wall was coming down. The soundtrack is an 80's dream! It's violent, but keeps you suspended until the very end. Good action. I recommend it.

Yesterday I had an appointment with my shrinky-dink. He finally consented to start me back on vyvanse. My insurance kicks in on Tuesday and I can get it filled (it's $400 without). I used to be on 50mg, but I'll be happy to get it started again.

AM: Coffee w/Van PP

L: Left over bunless spicy pepper hamburger

S: S&C PP

D: Chicken Breast, Cottage Cheese, Hummus

Water & Vites

E: Abs, Treadmill & Elliptical

Morning all,

Visiting my mom for a few days for a family wedding. eating OK, tho I did find crunchy peanut butter last night and downed about 4 TBSP. When it hit my stomach, it did not sit well. Lots of emotional eating surrounding this visit as growing up as a fat kid my food intake was monitored constantly with lots of "you should/shouldn't eat *insert food*". Even tho I'm almost 50, that head crap returns when I visit. Also, noticing how much slower my mom is, more aches, more pain, more fatigue, looking older and it's very upsetting. She's always been very active, always on the go, energetic and its hard to see her slowing down. I guess I just have to learn to deal and for the most part I'm good but have to be watchful for those unexpected emotions (hello, peanut butter). Well, all food has been tracked and I got a decent amount of steps in so not going to beat thyself up too badly.

B: coffee with cream/sugar, HB egg, small can flavored tuna

s: homemade protein shake (got smart and brought protein powder with me)

L: rotisserie chicken, leftover salad greens

s: turkey pepperoni, cheese string, Americano misto with 1% milk

D: no idea, maybe more leftover chicken and salad

Tomorrow we are off to the family wedding out of town and overnighting. Big Ukrainian wedding so it will be heavy on various perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage and a host of foods who's names you won't likely know but trust me all baked or fried, carb heavy, cream heavy, butter heavy, and likely, some roast beef and chicken. Salads, maybe a couple, probably standard caesar and coleslaw. I will do the best I can but will be forgiving, too. Last family wedding was 10 years ago so this is a biggie. Will focus on seeking protein and veggies. IF they have meat and cheese I'll bulk on that and probably coleslaw.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Parts of this post could have been written by me. Every single time I visit my mom we revert back to our roles. She picks at me. I become sullen. She is now 87 years old and it bothers me that we can't just enjoy our time together. But I'm afraid it will never change. Such a sad thing -- knowing that there will be regrets and thoughts of wasted time, but not being able to do anything to fix it now.

This. My mom is 83 and we lost my dad to cancer in 2005 and I live 4 hrs away so there's lots of 'parenting' that she still does of me when she sees me. I think she sees it as care and love but it's overbearing at times. I'm smart enough to know this will not change - a parent will always be a parent (I'm not, so cannot say for sure) but I do still feel like a 10 year old. I need to continue focusing on how I react if I want to preserve a relationship with her. Especially when her physical needs are becoming more apparent and pain is more abundant as well as fatigue, etc. I don't know about you but when I hurt and I'm tired, I'm not the best example of who I can be. I adore my mom and we are having a great visit, I just need to be mindful and aware. And, yes, best to make great memories in spite of certain situations so there are no regrets later on.

We lost my dad to cancer in 2007. I am 2 hours away by plane. She still "parents" me for sure... suggesting wardrobe changes, physically touching my hair trying to restyle it, questioning my food choices. I am 56! But even so, I love her very much. She has a great sense of humor. I really think she means well. She just can't help herself. She had a rough childhood and has always wanted my life to be perfect. She had really aged the last time I saw her. It makes me sad. Like you, I want to still make some good memories.

Good luck to you. I think your plan to be mindful is the best one.
