One month out

Morning all! Yesterday was one month since surgery. Physical recovery has been great. I went back to work after a week, was back to normal energy levels by two. Three of my incisions are completely healed and the main two are 90%. My main struggle lately, say the last two weeks, has been mental. I think I hit the three weeks stall, not sure. My weight loss has been really slow these last couple of weeks. Part of my brain knows that for me, my loss in general is going to be slow any ways because my starting BMI was only 37. I feel more food obsessed then I ever have in my life and some old anxieties and worries are starting to creep in. I have made an appt with the therapist associated with my program. Just wondering if anyone else experience the same kind of mental anguish after surgery? Also thanks for letting me vent and listening.

First of all, yay for being one month post op! I am a little over 2.5 years post op. But I was also a LW so I know your fear of losing slow. Just try to remember it is a marathon, not a sprint and everyone loses differently. You probably are experiencing the 3 week stall and as I am sure you have seen it is completely normal. I think it is normal for you to worry some, but I think it is good that you are already reaching out for help. My food worries in the beginning were more of worrying about what I could eat and how much. Just remember to follow your plan and i am sure you will be okay. Hopefully speaking with someone will help lessen your worries and anxieties. Good luck to you!

I definitely experienced lots of mental challenges with the entire weight loss process and I believe that finding a therapist I clicked with early on really helped me to weather those challenges. The surgery fixes our stomachs, but most of us got to be obese because of what's in our brains. Good for you for making an appointment with a therapist!
