Multivitamin help!
After my RNY I was told to use CENTRUM CHEWABLES, they were way to sweet for me. I am 4 years out. I would recommend a BARIATRIC VITAMIN to make sure you get all of the vitamins you need. I buy CELEBRATE BARIATRIC VITAMin. All of my blood work has always great. In fact I add HAIR SKIN AND NAILS for my hair. Also SELEIUM. My B12 has always been high. I cut my HAIR SKIN AND NAILS to 2 times a week instead of everyday. I love my CELEBRATE because it is in a capsule and I was told if I needed to I could open them and sprinkle it on applesauce or any food, which would work great for using right after WLS.
Oh I had forgotten about the applesauce thing. I too was advised to grind my vitamins and put it in the applesauce for the first few weeks. :)

Hiya!
As others have posted elsewhere in this thread, the ASMBS recommends 200% RDV of most vitamins and minerals. One of the best ways to get that is with a regular multivitamin pill, though you'll need to take two pills daily instead of the usual one.
I take the Walgreen's generic version of Centrum 50+. I usually catch their BOGO free sales and stock up! Immediately post-op, I had to split the pills into two or three pieces, but I was soon able to swallow the pills whole.
Because of our additional supplement needs, I take calcium citrate pills as well as additional iron. I'll likely be switching up the iron soon as I'm severely anemic and will be seeing a hematologist in the next few weeks.

Have you tried the Patch by chance? My iron was always low until I switched to it. Might be worth a conversation with your doc?

Yup, I ordered some of the iron patches and I'm trying them out now. I see the hematologist in two weeks so I'll get his opinion on them.
