Good morning!!! Of course I come here before anywhere else... I'm 3 weeks post op and everything has been good, until this morning. I made myself a scrambled egg and I can't get it down. I chew it but when I swallow my chest gets tight !! This is new and concerning... any help???

I was still on liquids at 3 weeks post op. It sounds like you aren't ready for solid foods and should stick with liquids for a while longer.

I've been eating eggs and soft foods since the day after surgery as per my surgeon. I've eaten them many times but this is the first time I've had this reaction..? Weird..

Sounds like it's worth a call to your surgeon to make sure it's not a stricture.

Not uncommon at all. Eggs are one of the things people can struggle with post-wls. Likely just too soon for you to tolerate eggs. It's not a complication just your body saying "too soon".

Some have the same issue with beef (ground or steak)- they are cleared to eat it but just can't get it down.

Wait a few days to a week and try eggs again and in the meantime try a different soft food.

Yea but your body declared "Not Today." So accept and move forward. Every day is an adventure and things are going to be fluctuating.

Best of luck

+1. There will definitely be days when your body says "nope" and you will need to try something different. And it could be something you eat every day. It happens.

Some days you eat the egg, some days the egg eats you. It happens.

If this were to go on over time, every day, and even liquids get difficult, you'd need to see your surgeon right away. But we all have days where eating is easy, and days where just a few bites sit like lead. This still happens to me after 5 years.
