So today I had my 1 year post op visit with my surgeon. I weighed in at 155. 5?pounds lower than my original goal. He was very happy and congratulated me on my succes wished me well and told me to keep up the good work and that i did not need to see him again. It was kind of wonderful to have been a success story for me and for him he gave me a hug and sent me on my way. I am very proud of myself today I think I was afraid that I would fail like I did on so many diets. This surgery has changed my life and I accomplished getting healthy!! I know that I must continue to weigh myself and stick to my plan but it all seems so easy now!! So now I'm shooting for 148 pounds!! New goal

Congratulations! I'm kinda surprised that you won't be seeing the surgeon anymore. After my one year post op, I saw my surgeon every 4 moths, now that I'm 2-1/2 years out its now only once a year for life. Be sure to continue taking your vitamins, they are VERY important. Good luck and wishing you success in your next new goal of 148!!!

I agree that it's strange you won't be seeing your surgeon again. After my first year of follow ups, my surgeon still wants me to check in once a year.

But, regardless, congratulations at all you've accomplished!

As far as my surgery all has gone so well. My follow up is with my pcp. I am so thankful I never had any issues with my surgeon. So pcp is all I need in my future

That is how my situation is as well. After one year follow up, I was told only to see my surgeon if I had issues, no more scheduled follow ups.. And my bariatric program discharges patients one year post-op now, tho I was not discharged until 2 years post-op because it's a very new rule. Maybe because it falls under centralized health care in Canada?

Sometimes I think it would be nice to see my surgeon and check in. But I do get my bloodwork done via my PCP.

Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
