How long does the HONEY MOON PHASE last?
^^^^Yes, exactly what alouisa said.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
It depends. VSGers don't have malabsorption, so we have no biological honeymoon that will end. This means it's all a mental honeymoon. Eventually people will stop commenting on your weight loss. Eventually weight loss slows down. Eventually you'll stop having small non-scale victories on a regular basis. Eventually you might get bored being vigilant with how you eat. All of these things can lead you to feel that you're no longer in the immediate post-op "honeymoon" period.
I never felt that I had a honeymoon period and, if I did, it came back to me about a year ago. You'll lose weight as long as you work at it.
Most surgeons only allow walking for the first 6 weeks post-op. After that, exercise as much as you want. Before that, walk as much as you can. Just never fall into the trap of thinking "Oh, I exercised, so I can/should eat more today to account for that."

My surgeon . my biatric nurse and the phisio I saw at pre op all just joked about the excersise part when explaining it and left it quickly. So they didn't break it down. They don't expect me to excersise due to my disability and moving causes me a lot of pain. But I am motivated and I will do something small little by little lol. And I imagine it will get easier as I get smaller. But I know I should get some weight down first before I focus on that as the less I have to move around the easier it will be for me.
and what you said makes perfect sence I bet there is a rush with the initial weight loss and how people react!
I don't know what your mobility concerns are - but are you able to walk? Right now that's all you should be doing anyway :)
After that, again without knowing your history, are you able to swim? If it's a joint problem, swimming can be good because it removes that gravity problem. Water aerobics is also awesome although we float less once we lose weight - hehe.

Can you get into a swimming pool with your disability? I have been saved by aqua fitness at the YMCA!
My surgeon is super strict about the exercise requirement. Of course part of the beauty of WLS is that you lose the poundage that was making exercise so painful. Now it is a flipping joy to move more along the way I want to.
For me RNY gave me a 30 month honeymoon. Weight came off and stayed off effortlessly. After 30 months it was work.
As Gwen said, there is no physical honeymoon with VSG. Everything you eat is absorbed from day 1.
It is much harder than RNY and I admire the people who do well with it.
