Straws
Some people's plans say NO STRAWS. Which is ridiculous. For some people straws help them to drink and not swallow air. For some people straws make them swallow more air while drinking. Figure out which type you are and proceed as necessary :)

My plan said no straws for the first 6 weeks. The reasoning was it caused you drink more and causes gas. That was one rule I actually ignored. I drank from a straw after 3 weeks and noticed no difference at all and I've been doing so ever since.
I started straws at 2-3 weeks helped me get my fluids in. More about comfort not hurting your new insides.

My Surgeon said if it doesn't bother your stomach go ahead, it helps many people to drink more water. I think for me personally I swallow less air when I use a straw. And I know I am able to drink more that way.
