Success!

I haven't been here in a while and thought I'd look around...

What I see is a bunch of people thinking any weight loss surgery is a magic pill! Just like any other WLS, VSG is a tool... Don't think just because you had this surgery it will take all your cravings away. It works on your stomach, not your brain! As in...you must make the choice of a roatsted chicken tender rather than a full corse meal at KFC that will take you hours to eat, but satisfy your craving

Sorry folks...it's still a diet! Seems all anyone is worried about is what tasty morsel they can eat next!

Your tiny tummy is an avenue for success...eat sensible...if you sit and wait for yourself to be hungry again so you can finish eating your favorite compote food...you will fail!

Hugs, and hold tight to your resolution to be healthy!

Love Idgett! Size 28 to size 4/6... eight years out!

Thanks for coming back! Do you find you need to weigh yourself daily, track calories, eat only 3 times per day and/or weigh portions in order to maintain?

Weighing yourself daily is not a good idea! So...Nope! I pulled my scales out yesterday only because I knew I was going to the doctors...wanted to make sure the were accurate! My scales live under my vanity, and most of the tome I pull them out to be dusted, and sweep under the vanity.

during my weight loss I didn't track calories...only g's of protein , and H2O.

What would you say are the most important things you do to maintain your weight?

Now? After all this time?

Im active! I burn what I intake. I do my best to eat right, as well as satisfy my cravings...there is limitations to everything!

Always realize, if you are havng a craving your body may need something in that craving...so...eat it...or you'll binge.

This doesn't mean eat a 1/2 gallon of cookie dough ice cream...that doesn't mean if you're craving chocolate you slowly eat an entire chocolate cake!

I stay away from filler foods like bread...Yes I endulge occasionally...homemade bread, and butter are a weakness! But look around...do your skinny friends deprive themselves?

Most importantly you have to realize you're on a diet!

In my opinion the first few weeks after any WLS are the most important...it's when you learn to eat right and know your boundaries...your new tool makes that easier...the big obstacle is your brain! Never think a WLS is going to fix you..it's only a tool to help you fix yourself!

It's an independent preference!

You go by weight...I go by size. It's totally a preference!

I can't say your wrong in what you believe..if weighing yourself daily makes you more focused...do it!

I fluctuated so much it only depressed me...I'm talking 5 lbs +

Long story short! I now don't care what I weigh...I've long ago got rid of all the clothes that were to big..waiting until the chance they might fit again.

I've found that using a program like TrendWeight (in my signature below) really helps to remove that angst that comes along with day to day weight fluctuations.
