Lean meats

I'm considering a revision from a LapBand to a sleeve. One difficulty I have is tolerating meats. I am allergic to all sea food including fish. I can do chicken, turkey, hamburger and not much else. These are the foods that fill you the most. I can do more "slider foods" like eggs, cottage cheese. Is a vsg even realistic?

Sure. And it seems like it's plausible that the things you can't tolerate now might be due to your band.

I eat almost all beef and pork, so you can tolerate it. If I eat non-lean meats, I tend to not add fat. I actually tolerate fatty meats better, to be honest. Everyone is different. A revision is a whole other ball-game. As Gwen mentioned, it may be the band right now. They are notorious for causing issues with food.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I converted from band to sleeve but that was just 2 months ago so i'm still on soft food (regular diet in another month). I'm a big seafood person so i eat salmon A LOT. I tried part of a cheeseburger for July 4th and it was fine. I had problems eggs with the band but no problem with the sleeve...i can almost eat 1 egg with ham and cheese.

I had a hard time with rice and bread with the band but haven't had those with the sleeve. I also haven't had tough meet like pork or steak but looks like most people do ok with those down the road.

If it makes you feel any better, i've lost more weight in 2 months with the sleeve than i did in 10 years with the band! Good luck to you!

I had a difficult time with beef & chicken when I first started eating real food after surgery. Someone suggested that I try them cooked in the crockpot & it helped me.
