LAP-BAND REVISION TO SLEEVE

Hello All: I had my lap band for 9 years and had it removed last January. I had VSG surgery on June 28th. Today is day 11 and I feel great. My question is, I am able to drink and eat with virtually no restriction. I eat an egg for breakfast; 1/4 cup canned chicken with a bit of mayo, 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes, and a bit of canned string beans for lunch; the same for dinner. With a Premier Protein shack in between meals. Do you believe this is too much food? I don't really feel hungry, but feel that I am able to eat too much. I can also drink with no problems.

Thank you for your help. I was just concerned if this is normal for someone who once had the band. I know that I had scar tissue, but not sure if that had anything to do with the procedure going correctly.

Yeah, that's way more than I could eat at 11 days out. I wasn't even cleared to eat most of those foods until 14 days out, and at 6 months I still haven't had mashed potatoes.

You should be weighing every single solid that goes in your mouth by weight. I could do about 1oz of canned chicken when I started. I can now do about 2.5oz at 6 months.

The nerves in your stomach were severed and you won't feel your restriction until later. You can damage your new stomach if you aren't careful.

I agree with the previous post, it sounds like a lot of food. Be careful and talk to you doctor.

I have heard that the people that had the lap band and do the revision... dont lose as much... maybe is because we eat more.... idk... I will have this revision next Tuesday and I am very worried that it wont help me...

Please lets keep in touch!

Wish you the very very best!!

This is too much food, yes. And poor choices.

Right now your stomach is still healing so you can't trust it to tell you if you've eaten too much. It's very easy at this point to overeat and damage yourself.

Drinking is great. Skip the mashed potatoes and beans.

Ok like wow. Umm I was wondering what plan did your Dr give you? Eating & drinking at the same time is a no no, whether you feel restriction or not. Also nerves have been cut, you won't feel restriction at this point & frankly I'm surprised that you can eat those type of foods so fresh from surgery.

Also, most people stay away from things like mashed potatoes, starchy carb heavy foods really doesn't help with weight loss or maintenance., & yes, this looks like too much food at this stage.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

Hi, I had lap band revision on 5/15/17 and at 11 days out I was still on full liquids, my doc's office started me on puree at 3 weeks, I was able to eat about 2 tbs at each meal, with PS 3 times a day. Most days at 6 weeks out, I am sticking closely to the plan I was given by the nutritionist. I'm happy you are checking in and going to see your surgeon. Wishing you best of luck on your journey.
