Working on our shop today, but good gravy it's hot outside!! About to head back out to go feed the pigs, ducks, and chickens.

This morning our houseguest made bacon and protein pancakes. Yum! Then it was off to Sam's Club and the butcher (all about an hour away) to restock the fridge and freezer. Looking at all the meat and seafood, I said to my dad, we are definitely not a house full of vegans...

The protein shake for lunch seems to be helping my weight loss. I just don't keep my calories low enough with a real food lunch, plus I can't seem to find one I can eat everyday that I like and that is low in calories.

B - coffee, bacon, 1.5 protein pancakes

S - string cheese

How many calories do you want to stay at for lunch, Cecily? I guess I'm weird, I can eat the same thing for lunch every day at work and it never bothers me. I get the Great Value Thin sliced Black Forest ham from Walmart, and have them with two Frigo Cheese Heads Swirls cheese sticks (mozzarella and cheddar). Roll the cheese stick up in the ham and yummo. 200 cal lunch!

4 slices ham (approx. 2 oz) = 60 cals / 1g carbs / 9g protein

2 Swirls (2 oz) = 140 cals / 2g carbs / 10g protein

I love lunchmeat (and cheese), but I'm trying not to eat a lot because of the sodium (trying not to encourage kidney stones!). With the shake being 160 cals and 30 grams of protein, it's really hard to beat with food. I did try grilling up some chicken to keep sliced in the fridge for lunch because it has a pretty good ratio of calories to protein, but somehow I screwed that up and it was terrible. I've made some chicken with salsa in the crock pot, but I burned out on that fast.

It was easier when I was doing dinner alone, but family dinners and dinners with friends are big up here and I find I end up eating more calories at dinner than I would on my own.

I hear you about the sodium. I try to switch off from the ham, not because I get tired of it, but because of the salt. Plus I get to eat lunch at camp if they have something I can eat (mostly it's a carb addict's nightmare lol), so I get a break now and then that way.

I tried to post earlier but my friend was in a hurry. I donated plasma while she went shopping. Then i went to 2 stores before heading home.

Crazy day at work today, glad tomorrow is my day off!! Feeling hungry today and I know I'll be up much later than usual, so planned 4 meals!
