How did you feel 2 weeks out?

Can I ask who your surgeon is? I didn't see it on your profile.

Thanks!

Dr Scott Fisher in Colorado Springs, Co. excellent surgeon. Not a surgery mill like my husband had that nearly killed him 11 years ago with rny. Seriously- my husbands surgeon did like 10 surgeries the day he did his. My dr did one my day and has done. Over 800- he has only seen 1 leak in those 800 surgeries. I am super happy with my results and my care. 21 pounds down 2 weeks post op.

If you want to lose weight and maintain it, you will NOT be able to "eat normally again."

"Normal" foods like sandwiches and pizza and things that a non-MO person could eat in moderation are going to be off the table more or less forever if you want to maintain. For the best chance of success, you'll be doing high-protein, low-carb FOREVER.

That, and those of us who end up MO tend to have a very twisted idea of "eating normally."

I was talking about the new normal. I don't expect to eat carbs, at least not like I used to. I meant normal paleo foods. I do understand that there is definitely a new normal to be developed. I'm already seeing the taste for sweets and breads is gone. Not that I have no desire, but I know that I can't eat them and that they would sabotage the work I'm doing. that said. yup, I've had exactly 2 bites of cheese cake the size of my thumbnail. I'm betting that won't cause weight gain. but it sure tasted good!

Reading eggface's blog I see that there is a normal way to eat coming around the corner.

Pita chips are NOT a "soft food," no matter how well you chew.

If you are in pain, you need to slow down your food progression.

If you're ignoring surgeon's instructions at less than two weeks out (by making up your own definition of "soft food"), there is NO WAY you're going to be successful at this.

Well, I disagree with you. I am successful so far and I have run everything past my surgical team and nutritionist. I am frankly surprised what a rude turn this post has taken. For you to say there's no way I will be successful is very negative and rude! I am keeping my calories below 300 and chewing just like they said.

I will say if you don't have something nice to say or at least constructive, don't say anything at all.

Only 300 calories per day? That seems rather low.

What is your protein intake per day? My surgeon recommended 80 grams.
