Damn You, Sonic!
I love Diet Cherry Limeaid from Sonic. We don't live local to any Sonic's so it's something I only get to indulge in on vacation. Today I got a large size one and it wasn't diet. A diet has 15 total calories.
I know it's not the end of the world, but it makes me SO angry when screw ups like that happen. Especially since I even picked on my friend who very carefully said "DIET CHERRY LIMEAID" when ordering.
We wouldn't have known if not for the fact my friend was wearing a continuous glucose monitor and it alarmed on her. But not until we were 3/4 of the way through them.
Being diabetic, I just now consumed 80g of carbs and 300 calories for no good reason. I'm actually a little surprised it didn't upset my stomach, given that was the first sugar laden thing I've consumed since surgery nearly 6 months ago!

I'm so sorry. I'd be super aggravated. (And super sick.)

I think I have an iron gut. I was so sick for 36 hours post surgery, but since not a single thing has bothered it. I don't get how I could have consumed that sugar and feel fine...but it seems (so far) that I did. The good news is, my BG is coming down already - so my weight loss must have greatly improved the function of my pancreas! (This wasn't how I wanted to test that!).
Also in good news, I have stayed on track for vacation so far, so although going so far over calories today will suck - it's not going to be the end of the world. According to the scale I've dropped a solid 5lbs this week!

Sadly my fructose malabsorption didn't go away with surgery which means HFCS still wrecks me. (Happily enough, I can eat greens post-op and I couldn't pre-op!)

Being diabetic for 21+ years, it was totally a rookie mistake. I've questioned so many Diet Cokes and tested them on my meter to verify. In fact, I even tested a Diet Limeaid earlier in the week (and it was indeed Diet!). But, today I just trusted it and got bitten.
I wish people were better educated on exactly how big a deal that mistake can be for some people. My friend, who is a Type I diabetic was well into the 400's by the time she realized what was going on.

I would also be very upset. Like you, the diet cherry limeade is a treat for me as well. You may want to call the Sonic and ask to speak to the manager. It's important that they know & understand that their customers expect to get what they order & that there may be a "medical" reason why people order "diet."
