Clothes shopping

Yep, I concur. Don't buy stuff until it will fit. Meanwhile amuse yourself with making lists of things you like which you can buy when you are ready. Chances are when you are ready for that size 12 or whatever, there will be something new you like better. Diane S

I know, I know. Don't buy until you are at a stable weight. But so many pretty things that I never thought I would fit. Ah well, cleaning the basement has me busy so I don't see all the nice stuff I would love to be wearing now!

Just buy clothes at the Goodwill or a consignment store. You will go through sizes too fast to wear them. I bought some cute smaller outfits at the Goodwill. By the time I got to wear them they fell off of me.

Can't wait for my clothes to start falling off. I got rid of a lot of old, large favorites. These I wore before I lost a lot of weight on my own, but just didn't want to part with them. I do go consignment store shopping a bit. Yesterday I got some jeans that were new and a size 16. Not 16w, 16. Long way to go tho, and the weight loss is so slow.... got my 10k steps in tho today.

I bought a few nice things that fit well and wore them a lot until I was in the next smallest size. Buying clothes that don't fit the day you buy them is silly.

You want to look nice and have a closet with things that look great and fit well.

Just window-shop for the smaller sizes, but don't actually buy them.

You could also try an online clothing rental like Gwynnie Bee. You pay a monthly fee and they have different plans for the number of items you can keep out each time. You pick the items and they ship them once available..you can wear it as long as you like and then when you are ready you can ship it back in the prelabeled bag provided and they will ship your next one. You can change sizes whenever, and I like to experiment with lots of brands and styles without paying dept store prices. They have a size range of 10-32 I think, but it might be fun for awhile, even if youbjust do the free month trial..it might help that shopping urge.

I am fashion obsessed also and have never really been able to fit into the clothes I want so I totally get where you're coming from. To satisfy my clothes addiction I get on Pinterest and pin tons of styles I love. I go through the pins sometimes and get rid of ones I don't like anymore. You can do the same. Just pin the sites and pictures of the clothes you love and when you can fit them, buy them! Congratulations on your loss so far!

I no longer buy anything that doesn't fit. Sometimes by the time it fits I just don't like it. It's a waste of money.

I am having VSG in August. As far as clothes go, I am looking forward to the day where I can bring out the clothes I used to fit into before I was pregnant. That was 12 years ago! You see, I was around 200 lbs when I got pregnant and put on a lot of weight during my pregnancy and never lost all of the weight. So, just getting back into my clothes that have been stored away for so long is something I can't wait to do.

I shopped my closet for quite a while after surgery. I have historically been hellish to fit in pants, and I had a stack of the ONE style Lane Bryant carried 10 or 15 years ago, in sizes ranging from about 20 to about 16 (I started at a 24). So that saved me with a little thrift store shopping for tops, from having to buy much during the massive weight slide at the front end. After those got too big, I found I can for pretty much the first time in my adult life, buy clothes off the rack in a straight sized store. I still only bought 2 pairs of dress slacks - grey and black - and about 6 or 7 shirts, and got those at thrift or Ross-type stores. I'm holding off on my complete re-wardrobing until I get stable at goal weight.
