Favorite protein shakes
I tried a number of ready made protein shakes and didn't really ever like any of them. But it's such a matter of personal preference.
Nashua Nutrition offers sample packets of lots of good protein shakes, so you can buy those and try.
My own research led me to Optimum Nutrition Whey - it's 100% whey isolate which is what we're supposed to stick with post-op (and pre-op too). I'm not a person who loves super sweet stuff, so I had issues with a lot of protein powders, but I really like their double rich chocolate because it's a darker, more bitter chocolate, so it doesn't taste as sweet to me as most of the chocolates I tried from other companies.
I mix my powder with unsweetened original-flavor almond milk. I like the flavor of the almond milk better than water and it doesn't add much of anything nutrition-wise, so it works for me. (My NUT would prefer me to use skim milk, but I don't want the carbs that come along with cow milk.)

I really like the Syntrax Nectar brand of protein powders. Roadside Lemonade, Pink Grapefruit, Lemon Tea - these I mix with water and usually a huge dollop of plain greek yogurt or plain Skyr and blend in the Bullett.
My other favorite is 1/2 scoop Syntrax Caramel Macchiato protein power and 1/2 scoop Syntrax unflavored protein powder mixed with 1 cup cold brew coffee and a big dollop of plain greek yogurt or plain skyr. I use the unflavored protein powder to cut the sweetness a bit. This is my caffeine fix when I don't want hot coffee.

Yes, it does. It's 100mg per scoop according to their website. I believe their Cappuccino flavored protein powder is caffeine-free, if you prefer that.

I made my own shakes using Isopure Zero Carb Unflavored protein powder (also have used Syntrax Nectar Unflavored). Head to the grocery store and get some liquid flavorings and cocoa powder and PB2 dry peanut butter. Here are some of the combinations I made using unflavored protein powder and skim milk (almond milk also works):
Almond Joy = coconut + almond + cocoa
Mounds = same as above without the almond
Pina Colada = pineapple + coconut
Tropical Delight = banana + pineapple + coconut
Chocolate Mint = cocoa + peppermint
Banana Creme: banana + a touch of vanilla
Lemon Meringue = lemon + a touch of vanilla
Reese's = cocoa powder + PB2 (mix in a little water first)
Elvis Presley = PB2 + banana (get it, his fried PB and banana sandwiches? lol)
Depending on what flavorings you can get, the sky is the limit!
