getting back on track
Hi All,
I had sleeve surgery in 2013. I lost 225 pounds, and went from 385 pounds to 160 pounds in about 18 months, reaching a Normal BMI of 25 (from a BMI of 60). I've been maintaining within 5 pounds of goal for almost 4 years.
This spring I fell and broke my wrist. I was in Spain for 6 weeks doing an immersion program to learn Spanish, and unfortunately, I got to use my newly acquired language in the local hospital! Between the cast, and the pain, and not being able to cook my usual healthy foods, coupled with too many carbs and an urge to comfort myself with food, I gained 15 pounds.
The cast came off last week, and I still have limited function in that hand, and a considerable amount of pain, but I'm trying to get back on track. I'm on my third day of low carbing it. I am very sensitive to carbs. They trigger serious food cravings for me, and I know I cant do it with moderation. So I am white-knuckling it and I'm so glad to be back on track, and ready to lose that extra weight.
I want you all to know, wherever you are in the weight loss process, that the WLS really works. Its not easy but its possible to lose all the weight you want, and to keep it off.
Best wishes,
Carol

CAROL!!! So good to see you back on the mend. I know how you feel about the carb monster. I'm a bit like that too. I remember coming off carbs last October when I got back on the wagon. Not a pleasant feeling for a few weeks. But then you get on the other side of it and feel like a human being again! Have you started physical activity? Come join us in the menu thread again!
The struggle is real! It never ends. Decarbing stinks, but it works.
