4 weeks and violently vomiting for the first time
on 5/31/17 1:13 pm
Something I ate. I had two small pieces of very slow, well chewed sashimi, and a bit of miso soup. I now know what it means, just a little too much. Intense illness and horrible feeling. I didn't think it was so much food. But apparently my sleeve did. So now it is all out, after half an hour of intense vomiting, and I mean ALL OUT. I feel better. How do you know when it's enough? I was fine and then horribly ill. No warning. Never want to feel that way again.

It could have been the type of food and not the quantity. Some folks report issues with salmon, what kind of fish was it?
But, the solution for quantity is to weigh it all. Everything, always. When I'm out to eat though and don't bring my scale I way under eat generally.
I'm also guessing it might have just been too much for you at 4 weeks out to eat fish like that.

Probably a silly question, but, was there rice with the sashimi?
If so, the rice swells in your stomach. And adding soup to the rice makes it swell bigger and faster.
I'm 31 days out from surgery and rice is not something I can have yet. On my plan, it is not allowed until after 6 weeks.
Also, your recently cut stomach may not like the raw fi**** is still healing.
Good luck to you.

I'd say it's best to avoid rice as long as possible, even the "healthy" kinds. I'm almost 5 months out and haven't eaten any grains or rice yet. I'm too busy getting in the protein!
And I feel pretty amazing too.

Thanks for the responses. It was sashimi, just fish, no rice. Two thin small squares of raw salmon. I weigh everything at home, but the team at work wanted Japanese and I went along with it knowing I would eat only the smallest amount. I had some miso soup, and while it is the first miso I had post surgery, I had it very slowly, maybe over half an hour for a cup. But about 5 minutes after the two small pieces of fish, wham. Horrible. I'm so glad the other people who are usually in the office weren't there! And thank god there was a wastebin right next to me. That's an upside. Now I don't want to eat or drink anything. But of course I have to drink, to get fluids in. So I started just now, slowly, on my 20 ounce bottle.
ill tell you one thing, tho, I am definitely not craving sashimi now!! And again, thanks for the responses. I really appreciate it. Going to be even more cognizant about slow eating, chewing, sizes, textures.

As you've learned - it's also good to only try new foods when you're at home :)

It's very important to measure everything before you eat, that way you can ensure that you don't eat too much. Soup + solid food can be challenging due to the liquid + solid mixing. And your body might not want sashimi right now. So I'd try it again in a month.
I'm glad you feel better!

All I know is right now I feel like I never want to eat anything again! But I think I will stick to protein drinks for work for a while, as I know what to expect.
