So I will be the odd man out on this. Now I like dogs I have a Beagle, but I personally would go with a mini horse. They have a longer life span than dogs and in my experience people seem to respond to horses a bit better than dogs. Some people have a fear of dogs and even though the dog would be trained well the person may still be anxious and afraid knowing a dog is around.

I love mini horses, but I think my apartment might disagree with me getting one!

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

My friend who is a therapist has a big old rescue basset hound. Many of her patients like having the basset hound in sessions. He is like a speed bump but friendly and that soulful expression seems calming to some. Diane S

Those are great dogs, Diane! I have seen them before. They are super nice and sweet!

I am biased as I love my Basset Hound but those that I know with therapy dogs/work with therapy dogs go for Goldens or Leonbergers. They are both easily trained and very calming dogs. They are also good heights for those that can't bed over and if you allow them also love cuddles.
