I love collies, they are beautiful! One of my dogs is a german shepard/collie mix. He is the coloring of a german shepard, but the face and fur of a collie.

YES! Can confirm. I have a Collie/Sheltie mix and had a Collie as a teenager through my 20s. They're SO sweet, incredibly trainable and intelligent, and loyal as can be. That goes for most herding dogs, though. Corgis are definitely up there too!

Congrats! She's so beautiful! My mom just got an Aussie puppy as well, and I think he was a bit of a pain at first, but she said he's SO good and SO smart. Herding dogs are the best!

I'm a Bichon Frise fan! Lives to be with people, especially kids. Is a great dog if you have allergies (doesn't shed), not yappy and quite docile. We use to take Shelby (she's now 15 yrs old) to visit my MIL in the Assisted Living Facility & she was a big hit with everyone.

You guys aren't helping me make up my mind!

If I end up with 500 therapy dogs, totally blaming Obesity Help posters :P

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

If you want it to be a therapy dog for weight loss patients ... how about one that no one would need to bend over to pet. While most of us don't have mobility issues that bad .. some of us do. Even bending while sitting could be difficult. My vote would be for the golden retriever for that reason.

I used to weigh over 750 pounds, so I understand. It's something good to keep in mind :)

Small therapy dogs usually will sit next to the person, too, most of the time.

It's too bad poodles are so possessive usually; they are super intelligent and standards are fairly tall. If not for that, they'd make great service dogs.
