Calcium Vitamin
I am told to take between 1200 to 1500 calcium citrate magnesium with d3 but the brand I have is giving me some troubles. Wondering if anyone else takes this and what you use?
I didn't even know they made a calcium citrate and D3 supplement that includes magnesium. I take 1500mg calcium citrate with Vit D3 per day, and I take a separate magnesium citrate supplement. Not sure what you're using, or exactly what kind of troubles they're causing you.
But for what it's worth, I'm using Celebrate Calcium Citrate Soft Chews (500mg calcium citrate and 500UI vitamin d3 per chew), 3x a day. They're a bit on the pricey side, but cheaper than Bariatric Advantage chews.
I also take NOW Magnesium Citrate Softgels, 2 per day (dosage is 3/day but my daily multivitamin has 200mg, so I only take 2) for a total of 400mg per day. HOWEVER, they are large gel capsules, so if you have problems with large pills...and I mean HORSE PILL sized pills, these particular ones are not for you.
TMI but my stool has been liquid and I looked up citrate magnesium and it's basically a laxative and was wondering if that's causing my trouble. You don't have that problem with your pills do you?

I think liquid stool is fairly common in the first month after surgery - at least it was for me. Are you eating or drinking anything with sugar alcohols in it - especially maltitol? Sugar alcohols can cause horrible diarrhea and are in a lot of sugar free chewable supplements and protein drinks.
So you're 3 weeks out from surgery...I'm guessing you just started soft foods or are on pureed stages? Because your diet is mostly liquid, your going to have runny stools. It's the basic principle of liquid in, liquid out. I doubt it's a result of your magnesium. I actually take more magnesium citrate because I had terrible issues with constipation until I did. Once you start getting your protein requirements from dense foods instead of shakes, you should see an end to your runny stools.

What sort of trouble are you having? Difficulty swallowing? Digestive discomfort?

What are you taking? Most people immediately post-op are using chewables like Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chews.

That's interesting? It looks more like the stuff I've used for bowel prep before procedures than the vitamins I've taken.
It might be worth asking your surgeon/NUT if you can switch to something more standard like the Bariatric Advantage Chewables, or another Calcium Citrate chewable.
