Medicaid coverage in Louisiana for Gastric Sleeve
Talk about discouraging! I understand completely where you are coming from. I had an appointment with Dr. Dominguez for June 21st (Pre-op****il they called and told me my appointment was canceled because he wasn't taking Medicaid any longer for the surgery. The hospital made that decision out of the blue. I already have everything done on my end. My particular case is time sensitive due to me having a torn ACL and Osteoarthritis. I'm literally falling apart. Mentally and emotionally I'm drained. ????
I am sorry...sadly usually if there are no surgeons in your state you can go out of state but as you said LA pays so little no one can do enough surgeries in a day safely to break even much less make money to pay the bills.... Hang in there and let's hope Dr. Perez finds a surgeon soon.

Hi Quette43,
Here is an update.....
Dr. Niazy Selim MD:
215 W Prien Lake Rd, Lake Charles LA 70601,
Ph (337) 502-8706,
Fax (337) 210-1271
I verified they take all kinds of Medicaid but "Aetna Better Health"
Update...... Dr. Selim is still accepting Medicaid for weight loss surgery. Due to them being the only surgeon in the area we know of that takes medicaid they are backed up with responding to our calls and referrals. If your doctor fax'd in the referral Latasha (office supervisor) said to give them a few weeks to get back to you, but they will get back to you. Because of the number of new patients they are not scheduling any new surgeries until Feb. To save everyone time they are referring patients to Dr. Jackson for you to complete the Medicaid requirement process. She said it averages 4 months. So if you contacted them please be patient for a call back. If you have not contacted them have your doctor fax over the referral and hang in there. If you have any questions Latasha said her staff cares and is there to answer any questions you have.HW:330 - GW:150 - MW:118-125
