When you moved through the phases of healing what was the first soft food you had, what was the first solid food you incorporated back into your diet? (I know every one is different but just looking for ideas how to slowly bring food back into my life, 4 weeks seems like forever since I had food)

My first pureed food was hardboiled egg with avocado. It was amazingly delicious. Soft food? I don't remember. Probably fish. My blog is down so I can't check!

My first soft food was gefilte fish, and that was after 6 weeks of only liquids! My first solid food was pressure cooked chicken.

Prior to eating food again did any of you have a horrible metallic taste in your mouth?

Yup! Still do. Often. For me it comes with the high protein diet.

i started with greek yogurt immediately after surgery - one a spoonful or two (with dr's approval) and then a few weeks later the egg!!! Heavenly. At first I had a hard time with foods that normally do not seem to be difficult - I had a hard time eating fish for about a year! It was awful.

My first soft food was tuna moistened with plain Greek yogurt and then scrambled egg. I can't remember my first dense protein but I know rotisserie chicken thighs and crock pot meats were common for me, and tilapia and salmon fillets.
