I'm post op one month today! I just got my ok to move on to meats etc. I wanted to know how other's are getting their protein in besides the protein shakes?

What is PB2? P3? I think they are some type of protein packs and that's what I'm interested in. I need something that can stay in a bag or car without refrig.

I know I need the shakes but after the last 3 wks I just don't want to see one every day.......at the same time I worried about my protein intake.

"what are you eating today..." is a huge help for me and I hope to join in daily once I find out some of the "lingo" and acronyms.

Thanks in advance

Congratulations! I hear you about the shakes, but you're still going to need them (or at least protein powder added to something) because you're not going to be able to eat enough solid protein to make your goals for a while yet. It won't be much longer, hang in there!

They have it at Walmart here. Lots of people add it to yogurt, you just mix it with a little water to make a paste first. And you're welcome!

I buy mine at Safeway, I think most grocery stores carry it now.

It's soooo good in yogurt! I add it to strawberry Greek yogurt and it tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

Well, I still take 30g of protein in the form of a shake, typically for breakfast. Its not that bad any more since I am able to eat regular food for the rest of the day. Every meal and snack I have is based on protein ... eggs, cottage cheese, meats and nuts. Usually I eat about every 3 hours after breakfast and its limited to about 150 - 250 calories ... that ends up being about 4 more meals ... so each time only has to be about 8g of protein.

Examples of things I eat often since surgery (amounts will fill me up)

2 large eggs ... 12g of protein and 160 calories.

1 chicken tender from walmart ... 11g protein and 185 calories

1/2 cup cottage cheese topped with 1/8 cup sunflower seeds ... 16g protein and 200 calories

PB2 is peanut butter powder ... basically just peanuts with all the oil pressed out of it.

P3 are little protein snack packs ... convenient but overpriced ... think lunchables but with a focus on healthy snacks on the go. You can easily make them up for yourself in zip lock bags.
