Struggling....
Today was going to be my day to start eating healthy(make better choices) and replace 2 meals a day with protein shakes. FAIL...
Slipped up and ate leftover breadsticks for supper :-(
Only 1 protein drink today
Tried to make a protein shake smoothie for supper...not so good. Couldn't even drink half...
And im fighting cravings right now. I do not want to give in. I figure I already messed today up, so why not?? Will continue that fight.
Tomorrow is a new day!! Plus side NO SODA today :-)
Any ideas and recipes of healthy low sugar smoothies? Or what I can do for a menu plan with substance?
I am envying that breadstick. I just stick to Premier Protein shakes. Can't go wrong at 30g of protein. Chocolate and banana cream are my favorites right now. I wonder how they would taste if I mixed them together?
Since you're still waiting for surgery, chances are trying to switch all at once to replacing 2 meals with protein shakes is too drastic for you. Have you considered just reducing your daily calorie intake and having protein forward meals instead?
Gradually changing your diet and slowly reducing calories may work better for you. Figure out how much you have been eating, and reduce it by 500 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week. If you're starting from a really high daily calorie intake, you may even be able to reduce it by 1000 a day to start. Just don't cut back too drastically or you'll be hungry all the time and that's a recipe for cheating and failure.
The way to stay satiated is protein first. Look at the daily menu post here, and get some ideas of what people eat, and create a plan for yourself that works. Protein, good carbs, cut out processed carbs like white flour, pasta, rice.
If you start slowly and work your way down gradually, it will be easier for you to stick to a new eating plan.
Good luck!

Hi! I'm new to the group, and I'm sooo glad I came across your post! I'm preparing for weight loss surgery, and lately been feel over-whelmed. I tried to go at it all at once instead of gradually, and now I find it harder and harder to to avoid the cravings. One of my biggest problems is breakfast. After years of not really eating it, now I have to. however, since I started, I've found by not eating it, I tend to want to snack more during the day. I needed this information, and feel encouraged and motivated as I start back on the right track today. Thank you!
Protein shakes are for after surgery when you are unable to eat. Now they will not satisfy your hunger and are just added calories. Stick to dense protein, low carb vegetables and lots of water.
No soda is a great accomplishment.
I put 1/2 cup Dole frozen pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup coconut milk, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and two tablespoons Splenda in a blender and it tastes like the pineapple whip they serve at Disney.
