I'm having surgery next week. I've read everything I can read on the subject. Is there anything that you wish you had known?

Woo hoo! We will have to keep in touch so that we can commiserate and encourage each other.

Yes, don't weigh yourself when you get home! Wait! You will have gained weight from the IV fluids and gas they put into you.

I knew it from reading this site but had forgotten.

Have an uneventful surgery and we'll see you on the loser's bench really soon!

Yes! I didn't realize they would have to pump so much air in during surgery in order for them to see what they are doing. I woke up in recovery with the most horrible pain in my shoulder and chest area. I started yelling "I'm having a heart attack!" So do not be surprised if you have shoulder, upper back and chest area pain, it's just gas build up. Get up and move around, walk in the hospital halls when you can. It helps to start moving the gas/air. This is something I wish I would have known so it didn't scare me so bad. Good luck next week, you will do amazing!
