Anyone feel as if they lost too much weight after vsg? My husband thinks I'll lose too much weight if I get surgery.

Is your husband just throwing out random stuff that comes into his head to try to talk you out of taking control of your health? You should suggest that he go to a WLS informational seminar - or read posts here.

The truth is that it seems most people who have surgery never reach their goal and then many end up regaining some (or all) or the weight they've lost. There are LOTS of success stories that stick around OH, the people who aren't success stories tend to fade away from the site forever.

It says you've had arm surgery I'm assuming it's for the sagging of the skin. How'd that go? Did your insurance help you? And how's your life now ? Have u kept the weight off?

I am considering having this done I'm weighing my pros and cons and trying to talk to as many of you that have had this done. As there are a lot of things to factor in and sagging skin is one. I care about my appearance but I don't want to go from one bad look to another or one problem to the next!

I have a lot on my mind about this!

VSG does not make you lose any weight. The weight loss is from diet and exercise. After surgery, you are less hungry and fill up faster so it is easier to stay on your diet.

But that goes away and then it is easy to gain weight again.

Keeping the weight off for a lifetime means a lifetime of dieting. You can call it a food plan or new lifestyle but it still means you have to eat less than you burn to lose weight. You have to eat the amount that you burn to maintain.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends

Thank you for making me understand more. I never had weight loss surgery so that's why I ask questions. I'm thinking twice about it just because I'm scared of me developing things in the future.

It only goes away if u allow it too and u r constantly making yourself sick by over eating which would in time expand the size of your stomach!

And from what I've seen on here ppl have lost massive weight so it does help but it is up to u to follow your plan!

I did lose more weight than I had planned to but eating a spoon of peanut butter a day put a stop to that. My doctor wasn't worried. He knew most people in that situation regain those pounds. Now I am up a few over ideal weight and he nags me to lose again. So its not unusual to get a bit under weight but it balances out. You can control this. Diane S

Just my opinion, but how much you lose is typically dependent on the patient.
