It's been one week since I had surgery and I'm not hungry per say but I just have this constant urge to want to eat. Now I've ready a lot of people taking in protein right after surgery but my surgeons instructions are two weeks clear liquids, so water, juice, sports drinks, broths, ice pops, jello and liquid protein which I have tried a lot and they are gross. My surgeon told me morning of I don't have to drink protein until my mushy food stage which is in another week and even then the instructions are only 4 oz of a protein shake. I've lost 14 lbs already just kind of having a very hard time right about now.

Sadly the liquid diet just sucks. Try to keep yourself busy and distracted.

Are you on a PPI like Protonix or other drug to control acid in your stomach? My first few weeks, I had lots of rumbling in my stomach that felt like hunger and it was actually acid. Once I started on the Protonix, it stopped. Talk to your team.

Keep on losing!

Liquid diet sucks. I'm 25 days post op, and it's a happier world when on soft foods. Good luck!!!

are you getting plenty of additional liquids every day, 64+ ounces MINIMUM?

dehydration mimics hunger. Drink constantly whatever is on your list though I would skip the juice,it is liquid sugar and can cause hunger and more hunger.

I did the hot and sour soup from the local Chinese place, and just strained out all teh bits and sipped on the broth... it was like heaven and my mouth watered when I thought about it during the all liquids stage...

Other than that, it sucks! Hang in there, and stay good!
