Did you have tons of trouble sipping ? I can't sip almost anything. I'm fine now but if I done get more liquids it's going to be bad I'm afraid.

i did weigh myself when I got home. Went from 209 at hospital and now 221 with all intravenous liquids.

sore, coughing, hiccuping with each sip,

I had a lot of trouble the first week with drinking water. Try it warm, that helped me. Also I set my timer on my phone to go off every 5 min and took a baby sip every time it went off. After a few days I could take two baby sips at a time. It's all the swelling in the beginning that makes it tough. Just keep at it!

Try at different temperatures. There were days when I could only drin**** cold. Other days where it had to be room temp. Other days, hot. It was a pain. Then it depended on if it was water or flavored (like Vitamin Water Zero). They had to be different temps. Take it one ounce at a time.

Keep on losing!

It happens a lot. Just keep trying. Try sugar free popsicles, jello, hot or cold liquuds. Whatever you can. Every day should be a little bit better.

I gained about ten pounds from fluids in surgery. It took me over a week to get back to my surgery day weight.

Try different temperatures and flavors. Some people are better with hot or warm tea or broth than cold water.

And I waited a week to weigh myself post-op :)

Thanks for the advice to drink warm water. I made weak tea and got through it so much better than plain water. I was kind of worried about not drinking and getting dehydrated. At least I know now how to prevent that.

I was just the opposite. Cold water was the only thing I could tolerate the first couple of days. I tried the jello and popsicles but I would get the hiccups. It gets better, hang in there.
