I am having a lot of anxiety and a very short fuse and I've not even gotten my date yet. I'm worried it's gonna get worse and was hoping some of you would have some good ideas/pointers to help me chill out some.

This is an anxiety producing process. You aren't alone. You may have hoops to jump through still -- preop testing and clearances, etc. Surgery dates can get cancelled or switched. Something will throw you off, so be ready for it. Just take a breath. Focus on the little steps. Read, study, plan. Be ready.

It will all be over before you know it. And it will all be worth it.

The first few days of the liquid diet can be rough. Hang in there. It's worth it.

It's very doable, as Grim said. If you're allowed, I'd suggest sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello to supplement the broth and whatnot that you'll be eating.

Are you seeing a therapist? That's my number one recommendation to everyone who is going through this. Find a therapist you click with now and then stick with them throughout the process.

Meditation and yoga are also really beneficial to me but... pre-op I went with "keep insanely busy so that I don't have time to worry." :P

Wonderful! I started seeing mine a few months pre-op and, even though she didn't specialize in WLS or disordered eating, it has been super beneficial for me. I started out with once a week, now I'm at once every other week, and I have taken breaks at times when things have been okay. Therapy has helped me weather so many things that have happened in the last three years though - even just beyond the weight loss aspect. Really grateful that I was proactive about this.

Heading into my first visit now. Therapy never hurts, WLS or not.
