I had surgery March 8th. I have been doing pretty good so far..lost 53 lbs. I'm getting very tired of drinking protein shakes..does anyone have any quick easy meal ideas. I'm on the go a lot and I don't really enjoy cooking...I know it's very important in this journey to stay organized and always know what you're eating for the day..I've been bad at that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also!! How do you combat nighttime snacking. I'm getting back into bad habits. Although I cant eat a lot I find myself craving things I shouldn't be eating.

Check the daily menu threads, both here and on the RNY board, you'll get lots of good idea there.

Sadly, snacking on things will only increase your cravings. Are you seeing a therapist to talk about how to avoid those cravings?

I second the recommendation of the menu threads. Also, try to schedule your meals for the times that you tend to get snacky - that way you'll still be eating then, but you'll be controlling what you're eating.

I wish I was seeing a therapist..unfortunately my insurance only covered 4 sessions and the sessions without are insanely expensive. But I will try to rearrange my meals. Thanks for the advice!!

Ugh, bummer. Insurance can really suck when it comes to mental health :(

Do you have any WLS support groups in your area?

My thought is to verify how much water you are getting. While I am still pre-surgery, I have discovered that my urge to snack often goes away if I get a glass of water instead.

If after drinking at least 12 oz of water, I am still hungry then I choose something protein first. Lately it has been a Greek yogurt that I flavor. (Vanilla, orange flavoring, cocoa powder... and Stevia for sweetener.)

It is better to travel and get lost...

Than never to travel at all.
