Minor sleeping problem
I'm glad I had vsg. Best thing I ever did. My only problem is I would like to be able to sleep on my back, I had less pain in my neck when I could sleep in that position. Now if I lie on my back I get queasy within a couple of minutes. The only way to make it stop is to lie on my left side. Is there anything that would help?

It's probably from acid. Sitting up more, or sleeping on your side, gets tge acid to sit in a less irritating spot.

I agree this seems like it might be an acid issue - are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium? Does sleeping with a few pillows to prop you up help?

It might be acid. But I had acid right after my surgery and this does not feel like that at all. I went off PPIs as soon as I could because I have kidney disease stage four, and PPIs can possibly make kidney function worse, and I don't want my filtration to be any less and have to have dialysis any sooner than I have to.

Acid doesn't always feel the same all the time - perhaps you should have an endoscopy to be sure? Since untreated acid isn't optimal either.
I'm sorry about the kidney disease - are you on a waiting list for transplant?

I'm still on the list, but it has been paused, first because I was loosing so much weight. Your weight has to be stable before they will do a transplant. But now it's because my numbers have been so stable since the weight loss. I feel great. It was hard for the Nephrologist to convince me there was anything wrong with my kidneys.

I agree with everyone, sounds like acid reflux. Sorry you are going thru it. I suffered from it after my surgery & if I eat foods that set me off now. These include tomato, cooked salmon, hummus, onion... & more.
So keep track of what you are eating & if it gets worse try removing stuff then reintroducing things one by one.
Also get on to a PPI from your Dr as soon as possible. If one doesnt give you relief then ask to try another, play around until you find what works for you.
The tri-pillow I bought to prop myself up really helped but the best feeling will be when you can lay down to sleep like normal. Best of luck :-)
