I'm terrified too of the surgery, what it will mean to my life. I am booked for May 4. Yup. And all day at work for the last 12 days I have been freaking out while having conference calls and doing strategy and planning. I keep thinking that this non reversible choice is fraught with negative outcomes. I'm allergic to everything but it's not even fear of the surgery or dying. It's the aftermath. But I think we have to do it. Leap of faith. I keep telling myself that, because so many people here have said it is better on the other side, and they are happy with the choice. So I keep working and keeping my chin up. Two more days of that. I'm sure Wednesday night will be tougher... have any of you done that quiet hyperactive cleaning and sorting and filling the house with groceries and making sure every errand ever was done, before surgery? So like, it is all good at home just in case? It's nuts. Only will not get to stain my deck because I didn't have time to brighten it. But canatexian, we will get through this, I'm sure.

Well think about the fact that this is non reversible. Why would you want to reverse it? Would you ever decide "gee I think I want to get fat again?"

Lap bands are reversible but mostly are removed due to some complication.

Think of it as down-sizing your stomach to the right size for you. Human body has lots of redundancy and we have bigger stomachs than we need in the 21st century. You will be glad you did this. Diane S

I am 54 years old and has surgery 3 years ago. I've lost 120 pounds and at my goal weight now for over 2 years. This was by far the best decision I have ever made. You will not regret it!! The first 5 days are hard and you may ask yourself what did I just do? Keep moving forward. It is worth it. YOU are worth it.

I feel like if you aren't all in you shouldn't have surgery. Life immediately post-op can be pretty tough, and I had an easy/perfect recovery. If you aren't all in pre-op I feel like you will be miserable post-op.

I'm all in! I think I was just having the normal nervous doubts that everyone has. The responses I have received from this forum helped quite a lot.
