Have you had any complications since surgery?

Any reflux/herd before or after surgery? Glad you're back, to help those that need it, like me.

Thanks.

I have had ulcers, acid reflux and extreme iron deficiency. Had an uterine ablation and got my iron under control. Still have some reflux controlled by over the counter.

Have you gotten the reflux checked out? It can lead to Barrett's esophagus which can lead to esophageal cancer. (And, of course, PPIs have risks with longterm usage that aren't amazing either!) So if you haven't gotten a scope to see how your esophagus looks, it might be wise to do that. Revision to RNY is usually the fix action.

Do you think you could have avoided the complications by taking iron supplements and PPIs from the start?

The issue was that iron needs an acidic environment for it to be utilized in the body. And iron is also notorious for stomach upset. So taking the PPIs made for an unsuitable environment to uptake the iron and not taking the PPIs madenit easy for the iron and extra acid to cause ulcers. So after many different treatments I got off PPIs and also found a solution to lessen my anemia!
