I'm having a bad day. Yesterday was mixed. I found out I was selected for the Honors Award for the Division of Social Services at my college, so that was super awesome.

Then I had a crummy experience where a complete stranger ask me about my weight loss and if I had any tips for her. She knew I'd lost a lot of weight because of my arms. I'd never felt self-conscious about my arms until that moment. So I binged. Because that makes sense. And I hate when people ask me how I lost weight and for advice because I'm honest and as soon as the s-word comes out of my mouth it's like they discount every other thing I say. Who cares that I mainly eat protein, see a therapist, and exercise a lot? Clearly the only thing that has made me lose any weight is the surgery.

And then, this morning, the bottom of my left heel really hurts for some completely unknown reason. Which means walking really hurts. For a known reason (kidney stones suck), my back hurts whenever I do anything. Between these two things I have no motivation to go to my fitness classes this morning. But I need to at least stop by to give some announcements to some of my fitness class friends and then I've got a meeting, a lunch meeting, grocery shopping and cooking that need to happen. Plus studying. And prep for my voice master class and choir concert. And UGH. Hopefully the day will improve.

1: protein shake
2: Bob Evans for lunch meeting - eggs worked well last time so I'll probably go with that again
3: breakfast for dinner. Clearly I did not take lunch into account when I planned dinner..

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: more walking than I want to do

How about you? I hope your day is starting off better than mine!

I'm sorry you're having a bad day, hopefully it will get better from here. I had my first official leg day yesterday. So far I'm not too sore, but I can feel it coming. I pushed and pulled 170lbs with the sled. It all sucks while you're doing it, but it feels pretty awesome when you're finished.

A small NSV, which is a total mind f**k for me - I tried on my husband's motorcycle jacket last night and it was too big in the chest and shoulders and fit in the hips/waist. My husband is a small guy, and I can not wrap my brain around that at ALL.

I'm up again this morning, and that's disappointing. But, I also have forgot my Miralax for two days in a row and that never helps with weight loss

B: Dannon L&F and PB2. I forgot my Babybel!

L: Going out, but I'm guessing the insides of a Turkey BLT wrap are on the menu

D: I haven't planned this, but I'm thinking either more smoked salmon or some kind of fish as it thaws from the freezer fast.

S: Premier Protein

Yay for leg day!! (I did a self defense workshop yesterday - lots of punching and kicking and I'm definitely feeling that today. Which is awesome. I love feeling sore from exercise since I feel like I've EARNED it.)

Awesome about your husband's jacket!! When my smaller partner and I sort laundry together he's always holding up my shirts and saying things like, "it's unfathomable that this fits you because it's so teeny!" My shirts are smaller than his.. which is ridiculous since I have BOOBS and stuff.

Yum salmon.

Yes! I don't mind the soreness, because I know I worked my butt off. I have never, in my entire life, enjoyed working out and now I crave it. I crave it like I used to crave food.

I'm going to add a yoga class next week and I'm signing up for a kettle bell class too.

Do you know there's an Exercise and Fitness forum here? I feel like I should intone "one of us, one of us." ;) I feel the same way about exercise now. As evidenced by my soon to be finished AA being in Exercise and Sport Science. It's pretty amazing. :D

I hope you love yoga. I find it can be really dependent upon the teacher, but it's also one of the best things in my life. My school schedule currently conflicts with my yoga class, so I've only got my home practice, but I can't wait to be able to start my class again! Kettle balls are super fun too, but I've never done a class - I hope you'll tell us about it!

When I first got into fitness classes, and before I was an actual student, I was doing something like 8 hours of classes a week. It was awesome :D I pretty much just tried everything that sounded remotely interesting. If your gym offers any of the Les Mills classes (BodyCombat, BodyFlow, things like that) I really recommend them. If I had access to a gym that offered them, that's probably all I'd ever do in life.

So, the gym I'm going to is at the University I work at. I get free access to the fitness center and classes are stupid cheap. But, they are also limited. This semester they had a Body Pump class, that I heard was pretty bad. Plus Kettle Bells and Zumba. I can not dance. I mean that in the truest sense, LOL. I'm guessing the next Kettle Bell class might not be until fall, sadly.

My trainer is actually through a private studio. So I get the whole gym and him to myself for my work out (that is not as creepy as it sounds, I swear). I don't generally use the University fitness center until classes are over because it's always jam packed with 20-somethings.

We have a very active yoga studio with classes most days to choose from. I'm going to start with a basic class, which is one I did before surgery. I'm interested to see how much more flexible/mobile I will be now. That class works nicely into my lunch hour and I can walk there and back.

Currently, I'm doing 3-4 hours of walking, 2-3 hours of weight training and then just general other activities. I do hope I continue to love it so much! I would love to learn to run, but that will require me to suck it up and go use the fitness center or run outside here from the get-go. I live in the foot hills of the Adirondack mountains so there is nothing flat.

I will check out the fitness forum, I actually didn't know that!

I do my fitness classes through my community college and, yeah, it's the same way. Sometimes something will only last for a term. Sometimes the teachers aren't amazing. But.. it's fun :) I can't dance either, but I think zumba is super fun. None of the other people can dance either so fun times are had by all.

Is the yoga studio separate from the University? We've got a few local yoga studios here, but they don't have membership plans, so it's a fee for each class and that ends up too expensive for me :( Thankfully, once my term is over, I'll have more options with the college's classes. I can't wait.

Does your University have a track? That might be a good flat option for running? My partner's new employer (College) has an actual Pilates dedicated building, which is awesome. I hope he tries it out sometime. Apparently two of his coworkers go to class once a week during the workday and have invited him to join. But I'm worried he might think he'd be awkward if he's the only guy. But Pilates is one of those things that everyone should do because we all need the core stability. Anyway, though, he's also a runner, so he runs at campus before work. He can use the trails if he wants a hill day, the track if he wants flat, or the treadmills if the weather is disgusting. Lots of good options for him.

Yes, the yoga studio is downtown, about a mile walk or so. You can buy 10 class cards or do drop in's which are $5-$10 each depending on the class. We do occasionally have a yoga class on campus, but I haven't tried that one out yet. I don't think we have many fitness classes over the summer though. I work for an engineering school and it's 80% male and 20% female and I think the classes are mostly attended by women. So, in the summer when the student's are gone attendance is really light.

We have an indoor track, I could try that one out. I think it's less than the standard 1/4 mile. I hadn't even thought of it. The other thing that drives me batty is that they close the fitness center for 2 weeks after commencement and 2 weeks before semester start, so it throws a wrench in my plans. We do have a pool I should try out too though. Swim some laps and what not.

We have another gym that you can take spinning classes, PiYo, interval training, Yoga and Barre work outs. I am trying to avoid them though because they are a drive across town. I just looked and their classes are only $5 though. I would like to try spinning.

What's funny is that I live in a TINY town. Well, the town is huge but it's mostly unsettled wilderness that has been deemed "Forever Wild" by the state. We have 1,200 full time residents but more in the summer. The college town I work in (about 10 minutes from us) is 16,000 residents when schools in session and 10,000 when it's not (we have two Universities and two in the next town over).

So, to hear that we have lots of options is pretty awesome. I've been wishing for a $10/mo planet fitness!
