What is your post-op heartburn story?

I took Nexium post-op, maybe just for a month? I don't remember now. Sometimes I have hunger issues and take Nexium again for two weeks. I had a huge problem with acid a few months ago when I'd switched my Calcium to chewables vs. pills and the first ingredient in those was fructose. I know I have issues with fructose (I have fructose malabsorption, unrelated to VSG) but I figured it'd be okay. It wasn't. But I stopped taking them and used Pepcid at my surgeon's advice and now the acid is all gone and I'm not taking anything.

It's normal to have higher acid post-op, so I wouldn't worry yourself sick just yet.

Very timely question for me. I just had my 3 month post-op visit with my surgeon this week. Their protocol is 3 months of omeprazole (40 mg delayed release, once/day), which I had been taking. Had no issues with heartburn. As such, my doctor said to stop taking it. Well, woke up with heartburn this morning! It's not too intense, so I'll see how it goes this weekend and ask about it next week if it continues to be an issue.
