Weird observation - hair edition

I was listening to music in my car this morning and a song I love that usually gives me goosebumps came on. I looked down at my arm to assess the goosebumpage and realized 95% of my forearm hair on both arms is gone. Unless gremlins came in while I was sleeping and shaved it off, I am wondering if it could be the surgery? I suppose on the list of essential body functions, growing arm hair is low on the list. Now if it would only affect my legs...

Feel free to list any of your own weird observations so I know what else to look for!

Oh, super weird. I don't know if telogen effluvium affects vellus hair. It seems plausible?

I never noticed hair loss. My dad was battling cancer at the same time I had surgery, so I figured I'd just shave it off in solidarity with him and to raise money for St. Baldricks. So I shaved my head about 6 weeks post-op and that was awesome :) I love it short too, so I've kept it pretty short since then!

I had issues with dry skin post-op, still do. I figure it's because I'm not getting enough fat in my diet. And orthostatic hypotension, which sucks. But adding G2 powder to my liquid helps mostly.

There's also the butt thing. I had to buy a ****yx pillow since sitting for long periods of time was painful! Thankfully my body has adjusted a bit so it's never really an issue anymore.

Google to the rescue:

Telogen effluvium, a type of hair loss, occurs when large numbers of follicles on the scalp enter the resting phase of the hair growth cycle, called telogen, but the next growth phase doesn't begin. This causes hair to fall out all over the scalp without new hair growth.

Yeah, I know how to google too. I could find a few references to vellus hair, but not many. It certainly seems plausible that the same mechanisms that would stop terminal hair growth would also stop vellus hair growth.

Ha! Me too. I will admit I was identifying with more than just the kitty's arms when I picked the picture...

I kind of wondered if it might be related to all the hormonal craziness that can come with losing weight..At 348 lbs. I didn't have much hair on my legs, but at 250 I am shaving alot more often...or maybe it's just because I can reach them to shave them, idk...
