My 2 year F/U visit with Dr

So I had my 2 year F/U visit last week, I have had a few pounds of weight gain, and was wanting some input on my calorie goals. She suggested I should be at 1500 calories (for weight loss) with the normal 60-100gr protien, low carb, low fat. 1500 seems like ALOT to me. I know that I have been eating more than that, b/c I've gained, but seems like weightloss calories should be a little lower. I walk 3 -4 times a week. It feels so gross to gain weight, but sadly, I feel like I'm back in my pre surgery mindset of "just don't gain anymore"..lol. I'm tracking on MFP, still trying to reign in my carbs. I wish they could have implanted will power when then did my surgery!

Well, if you're tracking everything you put in your mouth it should be easy enough to tell how many calories you need to eat to gain/lose/maintain weight?

Also.. it seems odd for a doc to say "you need to be at this caloric intake" because everyone is different.

This was his PA, which I had asked to see the dietician. I think she just plugged it in computer and took it from there, which I've done that. I was just looking for a more accurate number. I just got back on MFP, so I wanted a reasonable daily goal. It just seems high

It might make sense to start with 1500 every day for a week and see what happens. If you don't lose, go to 1400 every day for a week and see what happens. Repeat until you find the sweat spot for weight loss for your body :)

Like Gwen suggested try the 1500 (logged) and see what happens

You can also get a metabolic test done to see what you actually need. Generally you fast for them and visit a clinic. I have no idea how they work though. That will tell you your resting metabolic rate, rather than just making a generalized calculated guess.

This is the company I used for my DEXA scan that offered that service. I did not use it (yet). Link here https://www.dexafit.com/services/rmr-metabolic-test
