If we had a nickel for every rumor that went around a Facebook page . . .

It's not true. And if it were, would it matter? It would make a difference if someone told you that you'd never have another ****** after WLS, but burping doesn't seem to be one of the requirements of a happy life.

I DO wish, though, that someone had warned me of how much your first O post-op could hurt. Involuntary abdominal contractions OWWWWWW!

Well, speaking for myself - I'm coming up on 3 months post-op now. I have to say that before surgery, my belches were pretty epic. Think Barney from the Simpsons.

I wouldn't say that I can't burp now, but the burps are nothing compared to before. No noise, no duration. Just little minor releases of pressure.

The ladies in my household are rather pleased with this change, but the boys miss the good ol' days.

I couldn't burp but felt like I needed to for several weeks after surgery. Now it's not like a pre-op burp, but air does come out if I feel the need to make it.

I don't have any issues burping but when I do they are very small with no umph behind it.

LOL!!! Before VSG I BELCHED!! After surgery, I could not even burp for probably a year to a year & a half. Now I can cut loose with mini-belches. But nothing that would win any cheerleading camp belching contests anymore!

2.5 years out and I still very rarely burp. Even on the occasion that I do burp, it's always a very small insignificant type. Oddly enough, my surgery cured my heartburn. Have never experienced it again. Now flatulence is a whole other story...good God!
