People just don't have a clue...
Went out to dinner tonight with my sister and BIL, and my sister's BFF, her daughter and mother. I hadn't seen the mother in about 30 years. Anyway, at some point early on I made a comment about how cool it was that all 3 of us fit on one side of the booth, and my sister explained to the 16 y/o daughter that I had WLS [I don't mind, my sister is proud :)] as she looked confused. That brought up the subject of the grandmother having lost a significant amount of weight in the past as well. She made a point of saying "I did it the hard way."
I wanted to throat punch her. Yeah, this is SOOOO easy--major surgery, weighing and measuring every bite that goes into your mouth, tracking every calorie and gram of protein, fat, and carbs, and exercising more than you ever have in your life. Oh, and let's not forget months of major constipation issues that I have just now gotten control of, and major hair loss. Yeah, WLS is SOOOOO easy.
People are stupid.
OH, and P.S. biotch...I lost 60 pounds BEFORE surgery...so bite me! lol
Just remember, throat punching might mess up your manicure. Seriously people have no clue.
Ugh...people like that are why I prefer dogs to people.
While my first instinct would be to make a snarky comment back to her or explaining the whole WLS journey to educate her, there is no point with people like that. Their mind is made up.
