Totally agree about the straw. I've been using a straw since practically the beginning. I've found it makes it much easier for me to get my fluids in, and easier for me to drink.

Chewing and spitting is an eating disorder. Please get help now before your coping skill becomes an eating disorder later.

Emotionally many of us have a tough time in the beginning, but it does get better. It took about 3 years for my emotions to settle down.

I think one of the hardest parts of this process was the not chewing in the beginning. You're not alone in that area. My dog's chew toy was looking good at one point lol. It will pass soon enough - you just have to hang in there. It's not permanent. This is the time to be strict and stay on plan. You've have 9 months or so where I'm told it's much easier to lose the weight.

Also, don't look at the scale every day (I know that's hard not to do) and don't compare yourself with others on this site - we're all different in how we lose.

Lastly, it wasn't our stomachs that got us into obesity - it was our brains. You need to think of food as fuel at this point in time. It's hard to change bad habits but you really need to try. I agree with another member, seek help so that you don't have to go through the ups and downs alone. A therapist can help.

Find an activity to "love" more than food. Make a list of all the things you want to do but haven't been able to. Think positively.

I wish you well. Keep us posted. We're all here and we've all been through the ups and the downs.

lol @ your dogs chew toys. That was really well put and supportive. Thanks for being honest. I find it so hard not to look at that scale every day

You are not alone! I am almost 1 month out and feeling the same way! I am so angry that I didn't realize that every time I try and put a morsel of food in my mouth I was going to get sick or feel nauseas. Had I know I don't think I would have ever had the surgery! I hate feeling this way, I just want my life back, even if that means getting back the 35lbs I lost. I keep praying this is normal and that it goes away! At least we have each other!

Awww I hate that you feel that way. Those 35 pounds lost is a great thing mama you should be extremely proud to have them gone. Im proud of you. I miss food too but at the same time i would rather be healthy. Try to remember why you did this surgery in the first place let that be your guide if your a month post op and still feeling sick when you eat maybe you need to go back to phase 2 the full liquids. Also maybe your having to much because normally i get sick when I drink to much. Have you consulted your doctor about this?

There's no way to know if you will feel sick or not. It does go away and you will mourn the loss of food and it will be hard. I didn't start to get over the loss off food until about 4 months out. Now I don't miss it at all. It's hard to see right now but you will soon realize that this was the best thing you've ever done for yourself.

Hi! There's not much that I can add that hasn't been said already. In the beginning it really can be hard & nipping a problem early on might help you b4 it becomes a big problem.

I haven't had pizza, at least not the kind with bread in the longest time. When you get further along & are more healed up & cleared for regular foods, check out the What are you eating threads on the vsg & rny forums to give you a better idea of what people are eating, specifically look for alternatives to what you are craving for but can't really have. There's also the World according to egg face blog that Shelley runs. She posts recipes that are wls friendly & I remember seeing somewhere an alternative to regular pizza.

Good Luck on your weight loss journey.
