How long have your stalls lasted?

I had my surgery on February 20 and have been stuck around 280 since March 6th. I'm getting really frustrated to be honest. I've been watching my carb intake and have been from as low as 11 grams a day to 40 grams a day. I've also gone back to work where I am usually getting 8000 steps in while there, but I'm still stuck. I feel like I'm going to be stuck at 280 forever and I know realistically that isn't likely, but that still doesn't make me feel great about it. How long do stalls usually go for?

You have hit the dreaded 3-week stall...and it sucks! I had my first stall at 3 weeks as well (like countless others), and it lasted 4.5 weeks! Your body is trying to decide what in the heck is going on...suddenly it's not getting all the stuff it's used to, your hormones are wacky, you're still healing...there's a lot happening.

Hang in there, stay the course, and be consistent with your diet. It may break tomorrow, or it may last another couple weeks like mine did. But when it does break, you will start losing again.

It messes with your head, but know that a ton of us have been through exactly what you're going through, but we hung in there and made it through. So will you!

Thanks! It does mess with your head. I've been reeling with questions of what I'm doing wrong and how I'm going to fail overall. Just gotta keep on trucking, I guess.

I've never actually had a stall. I didn't lose weight for almost my entire second year post-op, but I knew exactly why I wasn't losing weight - I was eating the wrong things.

I've read your meal posts, even commented on a few but you haven't replied, and they're definitely not the way I ate so soon post-op. How much protein are you getting a day? How much fluid are you getting each day? Are you tracking using something like MyFitnessPal?

Once I started eating meat again (chicken mainly), I've been getting 65 grams or more of protein everyday. Thursday I actually got 91 grams. I have also been getting between 56 and 72 oz of water.

And how many total calories? Are you weighing/measuring what you put in your mouth?

minimum liquid should be 64oz per day - but higher is better.

I usually get between 500 and 800 calories a day and I don't measure/weigh what I eat.

So this is problem #1. You don't actually know what your macros and calories are if you're not accurately measuring what you ingest.

Get a small kitchen scale - they're pretty cheap on Amazon. Weigh everything you eat so you know what you're eating.

I'll have to find my food scale somewhere. Is there a food weight I should be aiming for or does it depend upon the food? I just measured out 1/2 cup servings of cottage cheese for future meals (since my surgery team has told me to only eat 1/2 cup of food, 3 times a day) and 1/2 a cup was bigger than I thought it was, so hopefully I've been overestimating the volume of my meals.
