Yesterday was a no good very bad day for me. I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach cramping and wasn't really able to get back to sleep. I got out of bed at 6:30 and proceeded to have horrible diarrhea for the next few hours. Google diagnosed with food poisoning, stomach flu, or the Plague. The dehydration led to my lowest weight ever ("yay") and the appearance of a kidney stone (ARGH) and my period started. So I was just a useless basket case and spent most of yesterday in bed.

I'm feeling better today, but really weak and tired. However, the day must go on because I have my three year follow up with my surgeon in 2 hours. w00t.

Yesterday I ate two pieces of toast and 12 saltines.

1: saltines
2: protein shake if I'm feeling okay when I get home
3: something simple on my stomach, like eggs

liquid and vites: on track with liquids, probably skipping vites today
exercise: nope

How about you?

What a crappy day! (pun intended). It's getting to be crunch time at work (I work at a University), so it's BUSY around these parts.

B: Ricotta Pancake, 1oz sausage patty & laughing cow cheese

L: Smoked salmon & laughing cow cheese

D: Pork Tenderloin

S: Premier Protein & Jerky

I've been able to cut down to 1/2 or 3/4 of a premier protein because my protein is getting bumped close to goal without it. That gives me some leeway to keep my calories lower. Last night I mixed it with a few ounces of decaf coffee and that was yummy!

Oh, Gwen, that sounds miserable! Feel better soon...

I have fun and not fun today. The not fun - my tax appt. and I am going to owe a lot. The fun is movies tonight with some girlfriends. It'll also be my first restaurant trip. I am still on soft foods and we're going to Chili's so I think soup is my only option? I thought about chili, but I worry about how spicy it might be (spicy isn't loving me right now). The next highest protein (11g) is chicken tortilla, but I haven't had chicken yet, so I didn't want to try that in a restaurant for the first time. So the next highest protein (10g) is a cup of loaded baked potato soup. Does that sound okay?

B - yogurt and coffee

L - eggs

D - soup at Chili's

S - protein shake and string cheese

My first instinct is that loaded baked potato soup is not a good choice, but according to chili's it's 260 calories (160 of which are fat), 18 grams of fat - ok, I'm right, not a good choice...the southwest chicken soup is 110 calories, 45 calories of fat and 5 grams of fat...maybe a better choice for weight loss.

For sure the better choice for weight loss, but would the chicken be okay for the soft food requirement? My surgeon drilled into me not to try new foods at restaurants too (I haven't had chicken yet and I know some people struggle with it?).

If I was still on soft foods, I'd probably go with a side of black beans. If you're not eating solid protein yet (chicken) I'd avoid the soup unless you're just eating the broth.

Also, I was allowed mashed potatoes in my soft food stage. A lot of people poo-poo carbs even early, but at this point I assume you're still having shakes to get your protein, so they would be a viable option as well. Mashed potatoes were one of my go-to foods during soft food stage.
