Reflux and growling noises

It is now 8 years since my VSG and while i am glad i had it, i wish i had had the RnY instead. I was not warned about reflux and had never had it before but now have to take Omeprazole every day. I have had some terrible episodes where i almost pass out from the pain and go into a shock like state with my hands and arms stiffening up. I am very concerned about taking the meds for the rest of my life as they are dangerous and could cause all sorts of problems such as strokes etc. I also 'growl' for ages after eating or drinking and it's extremely embarrassing. Has anybody found any natural remedies for these problems?

I was having the pain that went into my chest and down my arms like you describe( pre-op). I had a very large hiatal hernia that was repaired when I got my sleeve. Then the pain came back and one night I thought I was going to die. I just found out it's my gall bladder.

Seven years out from my sleeve I was revised to RNY due to severe GERD. That was one year ago and I haven't had one single problem with reflux since. I tried prescription medications, natural remedies and any old wives tale to get relief and nothing helped. The revision was the very best remedy for me, and others I've heard from. I encourage you to discuss this option with your surgeon. I wish you well and hope you find some relief soon!

Thank you for your reply. Do you also have the growling and gurgling problem?

I don't have those issues now. The RNY took care of all the GERD problems. That having been said, I do on occasion get growling and gurgling but those are just normal bodily functions...not representative of GERD. I do hope you get relief from your problem soon!

Yes i have and he reluctantly suggests a revision to mini bypass but i cant afford it.

You might be able to get insurance to cover it because reflux can lead to cancer.
