Surgery tomorrow... woke up with a cold

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow. I'm very worried it is going to be cancelled as I have developed a cold. Anyone else have this happen? I have everything planned for surgery on Thursday. I will be so disappointed if it is postponed.

Unless you have an active infection, say, requiring antibiotics, they won't cancel your surgery

What Kim said. As long as your lungs are clear and they can intubate you, you'll have surgery.

I was having cold symptoms a few days before and the day of surgery and everything went fine.

OH NO, we hope you feel better and this won't delay your surgery. That being said you want to be safe and that is the most important thing....

Thank you all for the replys. Sadly the surgeon did cancel my surgery for tomorrow. I'm very disappointed, but appreciate that he is concerned for my well being. The nurse said it would be about two weeks until I can reschedule.

Darn it. Sorry. But it's good that he's cautious.

Better safe than sorry. Besides ... do you really want to deal with allot of coughing when you have abdominal incisions? No, no you don't.

I woke up with a sore throat on the day of surgery and was worried about it being cancelled, but I told the intake nurses about it and they weren't concerned. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
