Giant hugs, Gwen. I miss my mom's birthday calls too. While I can still tear up at the drop of a hat (like now thinking about birthday calls!), mostly now six years on I smile when I think if her. I hear her favorite songs on the radio and turn it up so she can hear them, I watch a new crime/mystery show on TV and think how much she would like it, or laugh at fun memories of her quirks. The sad memories have faded and the good ones gets strengthened. More hugs!
Got a bit of stress going on right now. Should know one way or the other on big life changing thing in the next couple of days and then I can breath deep or continue to stress... we will see.

Gwen, I'm so sorry about your dad. The first year is the worst. Just remember that he would have called. And he would have told you how proud he is of all you have accomplished, and that you are about to embark on your first half-marathon.
This morning I had the ab workout from hell. Well, not really. But for some reason today it felt really hard. Today I will congratulate my week with a Ribeye.
And I'm down to 195.9! (I just typed in 159.9. WISHFUL THINKING)
My Instant Pot comes today. I may be figuring that thing out! I wish there was a bariatric specific instant pot recipe site or cookbook... And don't tell me I should put one together cos I'm not a cooker and I'm not that motivated. Grad school took all of that away from me!!!!

I'm one of 6 kids, and mom called every one of us every single birthday and sang Happy Birthday to us. She's gone 11 years now, and my oldest sister picked up the tradition and does the calls now - and I make sure I call her for her birthday. But the first year after someone's death just sucks. Hugs to you, my friend.

Happy Friday, guys! Our Brookside Early St. Pat's Day parade got cancelled for tomorrow because of impending snow, so no walking the route for me and my cutie Artie! :( I'll have to walk him and the other 4 dogs to make up for it or go out for a long fetch session!

My dad died suddenly 5 months after my 39th birthday. I never in a million years dreamed he wouldn't be there for my 40th. My mother had planned on throwing me a surprise 40th party...I told her no, I didn't want one without Dad. I stayed home from work and in bed that whole day, I just wanted it to be over with, so I totally get where you're coming from, Gwen. Hugs to you.
